The MOEEP Mission

The MO Equity Education Partnership’s mission is to advocate and mobilize for inclusion, diversity, equity, academic integrity, and accessibility for all individuals in all aspects of community life.

What We Do!

We work statewide to teach people how to organize in their school districts, community, and state to effectuate change and advocate for equity.

  • We organize and host in-person and virtual events that emphasize the value of I.D.E.A. (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility).

  • We continue to build a network of grassroots advocates across Missouri and nationally.

  • We promote comprehension and debunk myths about equity work and inclusion.

  • We advocate for curriculum diversity, free expression for educators and students, and local autonomy.

  • We challenge false narratives that unfairly represent Missouri educators and undermine the importance of I.D.E.A. efforts.

  • We work to create educational environments in which all students, regardless of their background or circumstances, can succeed.

  • We support educators by equipping them with the necessary resources and support.

  • We collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to foster positive community growth.

When the first anti-critical race theory bill was introduced in April 2021, our founder, Heather Fleming, began a Facebook group and invited individuals around the state to join so that they could discuss how to respond to this threat to equity. With the help of co-director Amber Benge and a dedicated team of volunteers, this group eventually grew into the MO Equity Education Partnership.

Currently we work in every area where equity is threatened. Our activities fall into one of three areas: Advocacy, Education, and Support. We advocate for equity; organize to help others use their voices; educate individuals and groups about inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA); and support individuals who find themselves under attack because of their equity stances and work. While we have met with victory in many of these areas, we know that there is more work to do to combat anti-equity measures and movements and to ensure that we see the implementation of more equitable practices well into our future.

By supporting us, you support all of the following:

  1. Education advocacy around inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA)

  2. Organizing efforts across the state

  3. Pro-equity movement building

  4. Coalition building across the state

  5. A more inclusive future for MO
